Recyclekaro boasts an impressive 90% metal extraction efficiency with purity levels over 99% from scrap batteries.
India, the third-largest e-waste producer in the world, generates a whopping 1.71 million metric tons of e-waste each year, but only about 40% was recycled last year.
Recyclekaro, a top player in e-waste and lithium-ion battery recycling, has officially joined the government’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) portal for e-waste recycling.
This makes Recyclekaro one of the four registered lithium-ion battery recyclers in India, along with Lohum Cleantech, Attero, and LICO Materials.
With this registration, Recyclekaro is set to help electronics and battery manufacturers in India meet their EPR targets. The company will support the recycling of 4,200 metric tons of lithium-ion batteries and 15,000 metric tons of e-waste, according to the official Press Release.
India ranks third globally in e-waste production, generating 1.71 million MT annually. However, only about 40 percent of this waste was recycled last year. To tackle this issue, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) launched the EPR portal, creating a transparent and accountable system for managing electronic waste in India. The portal tracks e-waste from production to disposal, linking manufacturers with registered recyclers like Recyclekaro, and streamlining the recycling process.
The system also offers financial incentives through EPR credits, making recycling more economically viable. It ensures regulatory compliance, improves data collection and reporting, and promotes innovation in recycling technologies, driving a sustainable approach to e-waste management in India.
The 2022 Battery Waste Management (BWM) Rules, set by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, apply to all battery types. These rules require producers to meet specific collection and recycling targets. Producers, recyclers, and refurbishers must register through the CPCB’s online portal, ensuring transparency and accountability.
